Carrie Underwood To Return To ‘American Idol’ To Mentor The Top 5

Seventeen years after winning “American Idol,” Carrie Underwood is returning to the United States’ top music reality show as a mentor of the top 5 contestants.

Underwood, who won season 4 of American Idol in 2005, will appear live on the May 15 episode on ABC to mentor the remaining five singers of season 20.

Leah Marlene, HunterGirl, Nicolina, Fritz Hager and Noah Thompson are vying for a spot in the grand finale.

“Well, here’s a dream come true! #AmericanIdol icon @carrieunderwood will mentor the Top 5, live from the home of her Las Vegas residency ‘REFLECTION’ at @resortsworldlv! Who better to help our hopefuls earn a place in the Grand Finale?” the music program’s organizers wrote in an announcement on social media.

The 39-year-old country star did not conceal her excitement either, tweeting, “Can’t wait.”

The winner of “American Idol” Season 20 will be announced on May 22.
