Country superstar Carrie Underwood was forced to miss the star-studded finale of Season 20 of “American Idol” on Sunday, May 22, due to Covid-19 exposure.
“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest revealed the news at the beginning of the episode.
“There was a COVID exposure within Carrie Underwood’s group,” he stated. “So following protocol, she is unable to perform tonight. Sad, but you can check her out on her tour, Denim & Rhinestones. That tour coming this fall. So, go see her.”
Underwood was set to deliver the live debut of “Denim & Rhinestones” during the three-hour finale.
Underwood, who previously won Season 4 of “America Idol,” had appeared on Season 20 to mentor the Top 5 from her Las Vegas residency.
Underwood is currently set to release her ninth studio album, Denim & Rhinestones on June 10.
The album will feature 12-tracks, including the lead single “Ghost Story,” as well as the title track, “Crazy Angels” and the recently released “She Don’t Know.”
