Kacey Musgraves Among TIME’s 2022 Women Of The Year

Country singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves is among TIME magazine’s 2022 Women Of The Year.

“Our 2022 Women of the Year list features 12 individuals who have reached across communities, generations, and borders to fight for a more inclusive and equitable world,” the magazine said in announcing the names.

Tracy Chou, Allyson Felix, Amanda Gorman, Sherrilyn Ifill, Jennie Joseph, Amanda Nguyen, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Kerry Washington, Amal Clooney, Adena Friedman and Zahra Joya are the other Women of the Year honorees.

They will be honored at TIME‘s invitation-only Women of the Year gala in Los Angeles on March 8, which marks International Women’s Day.

The winner of six Grammy Awards, seven Country Music Association Awards, and three Academy of Country Music Awards, Musgraves will perform at the event.

In TIME magazine’s new Women of the Year issue this week, 33- year-old Musgraves spoke about what it’s like to be a woman in the music business and the choice to live her life openly on the heels of her divorce from Ruston Kelly in September 2020.

“It always makes it easier to put vulnerable thoughts out there when you know they’re going to be met with connection,” she said about finding the courage to write honest music.
